Description
This course moves students from arithmetic to pre-algebra in one year. This can help a student catch up, or help ensure that a student gets to calculus by age 16. After a student completes this course, he or she is ready for pre-algebra and the beginning of algebraic reasoning. During the course of Transition Math, students will master the following:
Measurement
Partial Amounts
Place Value
Arithmetic Word Problems
Suggested Age: 10-13
Prerequisites
Elementary Math 4/5 (or something equivalent)
Required Materials
- Transition Math by Swarbrick and Miller (complete textbook set) from ODA bookstore: https://www.onedayacademy.com/oda-authored-materials
- Ruler (with both metric and English units)
- Protractor
- Graphing paper (we will do all work on graphing paper; can be notebook or loose leaf)
